'Grüß Sie Gott, Demba! Wohin des Wegs? Warten Sie, ich komme ein Stück mit Ihnen.' Demba wartete. Willy Eisner kam herüber. Demba nickte ihm flüchtig zu. 'Was ist denn mit Ihnen? Sind Sie denn nicht mehr in Ihrer Bank, daß Sie vormittags spazierengehen können?' fragte er. Willy Eisner machte einen Zug aus seiner Zigarette und blies den Rauch von sich. 'Doch', sagte er. 'Glauben Sie, die Bank ließe mich gehen? Aber ich komme eben von der Börse. Ich hatte dort zu tun.'
