Aber das hat ja mit dem Narrenturm und dem Joseph nichts zu tun. Der Joseph war nicht schwul. Beim Narrenturm bin ich mir nicht sicher.

Ich erinnerte mich mit ein wenig Neugier des Praters, wo jetzt zu Frühlingsende, zu Sommersanfang, die schweren Bäume wie riesige grüne Lakaien rechts und links der von Wagen durchflitzten Hauptallee stehen und reglos den vielen geputzten eleganten Menschen ihre weißen Blütenherzen hinhalten. Gewohnt, auch dem flüchtigsten meiner Wünsche sofort nachzugeben, rief ich den ersten Fiaker an, der mir in den Weg kam, und bedeutete ihm auf seine Frage den Prater als Ziel. »Zum Rennen, Herr Baron, nicht wahr?« antwortete er mit devoter Selbstverständlichkeit. Da erinnerte ich mich erst, daß heute ein sehr fashionabler Renntag war, eine Derbyvorschau, wo die ganze gute Wiener Gesellschaft sich Rendezvous gab.
