But the other half of the park – the Wurstelprater – was full of children. „Wurstel“ means „Punch“, and on this side of the park you could find the nurses, the perambulators, and the Punch and the Judy show.

Boleks Wohnung lag im zweiten Bezirk neben dem Prater. Sie war im obersten Stockwerk eines alten Mietshauses und bedeutete einen beträchtlichen Zivilisationssprung für mich. Wenn ich mich aus dem Fenster lehnte, sah ich das Riesenrad, wo man mich eine ganze Umdrehung lang für einen Russen gehalten und mir gezählte siebzehn Schokoriegel zugesteckt hatte.
